Both sides bring up good points. I remember when I first played around june 05 sigils were about 80-100k at anytime. My guild really wanted a guildhall so everyone had to grind hard to get this 80k for a sigil that many people that did HA had pleanty of due to broken skills and such. It also made pve guilds want to pvp to obtain a sigil for there hall which is always a good thing to introduce people to new elements of the game. So having a guild hall around release time was something. Now anyone with 20k can make a guild with a hall. Also HOH chest drops arent always the best sure they are always gold drops but me having held halls, and win it on and off thru a day of playing i can personally say 85% of the stuff that drops from those chest are junk. I have gotten everything from req 13 flatbows to req 8 chaos axes from there to id it and be highly disappointed req 8 chaos axe from halls with no damage or suffix or prefix mods. Also in my many wins I have yet to see a dwarven axe, crystalline sword, or a serpents axe drop from the chest getting one is rare getting a good one is even more rare.

I was on that long list of people where months b4 factions release was going to save my sigils and hope for a rise in price so I could actually fund my new pve toons thru the game but I had a gut feeling that they werent going to rise. End result I was right the prices stood the same around 13-17k.Pve'rs have to understand that people that actually win halls on a constant basis sigils is sometimes there sole source of income.

I feel the price should stay even around 25k and selling price to the merchant should be a even 20k. Not much but its much better then the low ball of a price of 13k.

oh my god. Someone just said something positive w00t!

See, this is exactly it. Everyone wanted it, so they would do some PvP. It worked well for everyone.

If it's worth alot, people want it.

I'm sure you would be absolutly outraged if you were forced to spend 300+ hours PvPing so you could do FoW. So why should PvPers need to spend 300+ hours in PvE farming so they can PvP?

I thought Guild Wars was about Skill over Grind.
There is no longer any need for a PvP player to play PvE as you can just pay ANet $35 to unlock everything for PvP.

You even clearly do not PvP. Pay the 35 bucks eh? What about the many advantages of a PvE Character? You are smart, my friend. Pay anet $35! Why didn't I think of it.

Quoted for posterity. I do enjoy good sarcasm.

But honestly when I saw this I wasn't in support of having sigils up at a high price, but after reading through it really turns my oppinon around. So many PVE noobs believe that PVP is something that it definitely is not. I just can't stand by and let these atrocities occur, this is ridiculous.

My new solution: Pay for all the things inside of the guild hall with Celestial Sigils, not money. From the next season on, things will cost sigils to buy stuff for the guild hall making it more PVP friendly than PVE friendly. Seriously, I don't know many PVPers running around with 100's of K, it's the PVEers who farm day in and day out. I mean when I kill stuff I get faction of balthazar, when you do you get money. I don't really understand how some of the things are run, honestly.

I actually like this idea. All those npcs cost 10k, 25k, 50k, or 100k anyway. Maybe you'd end up paying more for a xunlai agent (10k), but maybe you could save money on a skill trainer? (100k)

Pretty sure the skill trader has core skills only... or if not then ch1 + core only making it more then worthless. Personally I wouldn't pay 1k for most of the merchants.

Guildwars is "dying" because people are getting tired of necrospike / iway(which is admittedly dying off) / vimway etc. Sigils being worthless just cuts out the people who only wanted to profit off HOH and didn't really enjoy the game play.

Yes at release people played a lot more, but I do not agree that guilds are worse. Around release people ran some stupid stuff like teams of whammos with healing hands. Infact I remember when people complained that minion factory was an EXPLOIT! Sure it was a little better back then but mostly because everyone else was running really awful skills.

The game has evolved, a lot of people have quit. If sigils didnt drop like candy (which I think was the idea anyways) then they might still be worth 80k+ But since they do, and most people aren't changing their GH every 10 mins they are.

Honestly I don't think a GH should cost anything, but I suppose if they didn't everyone would be in a 1 man guild spamming AWESOME GUILD LFM! I mean pvp should not be related to pve at all. You shouldn't need to pve to be able to pvp.

While your at it add in all those pve only items like a +1 20% / +30 hp shields and +10 armor / +30 hp shields. For fairness of course.

In the final level of Heros Ascent the winners get a chest which drops 3-4 items. Can be a Sigil which is needed to make a guild hall, this can be sold for money. When guild wars was new this was quite porfitable as everybody wanted to get a guild hall and you couldn't buy a sigil from a trader. Now it doesn't pay alot.

Also during some event you would get orbs in any form of pvp, these orbs could be exchanged for a blathazar flame which could be used to get instant 1k faction, these flames sold for a few k's as well.

However most that has been said in this thread is now of no consequence as Armor swapping in pvp has been nerfed and with the new armor/weapon system a pve char has no advantage over a pvp char anymore.
